Description
Griffin Fire received their two rescue pumpers, and tower ladder, from KME, about a year ago. After their delivery, Engine 3 (the farthest south company in Griffin, and the county) started experiencing complications. This was common due to its age. It would be 20 in 2018. Since Engine 3 played an important role, being the only transport capable pumper in the metro area. The issues continued for about a month. So on June 16, 2016, it was decided that it would be replaced. It was tossed back and forth, on rather to just purchase and ambulance and run a pumper out of Station 3, but since it's role was vital, instead of hiring 6 new people, it was decided, and I introduce, the new Engine 3. Engine 3 is a 2017 Pierce Velocity PTC pumper. It features a 2000 GPM Waterous pump, a 800 gallon water tank, and a CAFS system. It is set up with a Stryker stretcher, on board refrigerator, a Coleman A/C system that runs when the truck is not in motion or on, a Wiburt Nightscan light tower, Whelen emergency and scene lighting, a Hurst Extrication tools compliment, a Harrison 6kW generator to power the many battery chargers for the Hurst E-tools, a Res-Q Jack setup, and much more, including, a Whelen traffic advisor on both sides, and the rear, and much more. The truck will be in service by May 25th.
